Why I spend extra time with patients
Updated: Jul 15
The typical chiropractic appointment lasts 5 to 10 minutes. At Pinnacle Chiropractic in South Burlington, I allow more time for a follow-up visit, typically 20 to 30 minutes. Why? My philosophy has its roots in what a professor once told me.
Why I value extra time
A clinical professor at New York Chiropractic College used to say to our class, when managing a patient’s case, “think of the patient as if she were your mother. How would you treat her? Now do that.”
Each patient deserves the attention, time and quality of care that I would want for myself, and for my loved ones. This is a value that once heard, I always wanted to put into action.
So, with every patient who walks through my door, I listen. I advocate. I offer solutions. I refer out when necessary. I customize my treatment for your body, to your comfort level and needs. This level of management takes time. And that is why I allow myself the extra time.
Plus, I enjoy hearing stories from your weekend, seeing pictures of your grandkids, and establishing a personal connection. It helps me understand you better.
Thank you for entrusting me with your healthcare.
What happens during a 30-minute follow-up appointment?
An assessment of progress from the previous session and/or evaluating a new episode of care, followed by the treatment and ending with a plan moving forward.
